1. Could you briefly introduce yourself and explain what made you interested in buying an akiya in Japan?

My name is Jennifer, and I live full-time in Arkansas, USA. My mother is from Minamata, and I’ve been visiting since I was a baby. Over the years, I’ve built a deep and longstanding connection to Japan through family, community, and culture. Buying an akiya wasn’t just a personal dream; it was about creating a home base for me, my parents, my siblings, and one day, my nieces and nephews. It gives us a chance to visit and stay close to our Japanese family, and it keeps our family ties to Minamata alive for generations to come.

2. What were your biggest concerns before purchasing, and how did you overcome them?

My biggest concerns before purchasing were the legal steps. Even though I did a lot of research online and watched numerous YouTube videos, I didn’t feel fully confident. Navigating property laws from overseas, especially in a language I wasn’t fluent in, was really daunting. I overcame that by relying on Akiya Heaven. They provided step-by-step guidance, which gave me the confidence I needed to move forward.

3. How would you describe your experience working with Akiya Heaven, from your first consultation to finalizing the purchase?

My experience with Akiya Heaven was outstanding. From the very first consultation, their communication was excellent. They were always quick to respond and explained each step clearly and comprehensively. They were incredibly efficient, never wasting a moment, and whenever a setback arose, they took immediate action. It felt like they were holding my hand from start to finish. Even after the process was over, they stayed in the background, ready to support me with any follow-up needs. That continuity made me feel truly cared for.

4. Did the buying process go as you expected? Were there any surprises along the way?

The buying process went very much as Akiya Heaven outlined during the consultation. They gave me a clear, step-by-step timeline, and they were pretty much spot on. The only real setback was that I hadn’t anticipated how difficult the realtor would be to work with. However, Akiya Heaven remained professional throughout, and whenever there was a communication hiccup, they stepped in to clarify things right away. Their calm, steady support kept the process on track.

5. What part of our service was the most valuable to you, and why?

The most valuable part of Akiya Heaven’s service was how hands-on they were. I was honestly so relieved. I didn’t have to worry about every tiny step because their instructions were crystal clear. The whole process was easy to navigate, and I truly couldn’t have done it without them.

6. What are your plans for your akiya property moving forward?

I’ve nicknamed this house “Mountain Spirit Haven” and it will be a cherished home base for my family, a serene retreat where we can all gather. Major renovations are already underway, thanks to my family and close family friends in construction. I plan to visit twice a year, and it’s going to be my anchor to the community I love so much, keeping that bond strong for generations.

7. What advice would you give to someone considering buying an akiya in Japan?

If you’re considering buying an akiya, I would absolutely recommend Akiya Heaven. Their attention to detail is incredible, and you truly feel like their only customer. The unknowns, such as the laws and language barriers, are what stop many people from living their dream in Japan. But Akiya Heaven takes all those worries away. They give you the freedom to see your dream through to the end, something you simply can’t put a price on.
